This month's topic: HOME CARE AGENCY POLICIES AND REGULATIONS
Home care agencies are subject to federal, state, and local laws, rules, and
regulations. The various rules and regulations help protect the public by
providing minimum standards for quality and safety of home care services. The
rules also address standards for safety and training of home care workers.
Agencies are subject to surveys and inspections by state and federal regulatory
and payer source bodies. Agencies can receive citations and deficiencies and
an agency’s home care license can be revoked for certain levels of deficiencies.
The health, safety and welfare of clients receiving services from a home care
agency is of utmost importance in operating a home care agency along with staff
training, safety, and health screenings. Surveyors visit home care agencies to
make sure the agency is following state and federal regulations.
